Franklin Kiermyer
Drummer, Composer & Bandleader
Franklin Kiermyer is known for his expansive style of drumming, distinct sound and the spiritual focus of his music.
“The function of our music - its true purpose - is fulfilled when everyone feels strong, free and unafraid to jump into the unknown, leaving behind what holds us back. That experience is what we're all about. Our music changes people.” - Franklin Kiermyer
Scatter The Atoms That Remain is Kiermyer's new album and the name of his present band. Their first release, Exultation, was co-produced by Kiermyer and legendary producer Michael Cuscuna, as was Kiermyer's albums Closer to the Sun and Further. Cuscuna says: "Franklin Kiermyer conveys a spiritual feeling through his music that reaches each listener in different ways. It's the urgency you feel when you listen ... Franklin got beyond his influences and comes through with him as an original player - his feel, his rhythmic patterns ... He has his own way of playing the drums, his own way of organizing music, his own way of unfolding a performance."
The new album, co-produced with Jason Olaine, features performances from Jeff Bhasker, Isaiah Collier, Keyon Harrold, Davis Whitfield, Jasbir Jassi, Rakalam Bob Moses, Aaron Parks, Carlos Niño, Linda Sikhakhane, Nate Mercereau, Géraud Portal, Otto Gardner, Melanie Charles & Temitope Momorebe Gospel Singers.
